In 2022, Dallas College’s School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design was awarded the Challenge America grant to fund several programs with the multidisciplinary artist Jeremy Biggers. The grant supported art initiatives for underserved communities. The program included a solo exhibition, residency, talks, and a workshop demonstration. It was important that the program was led by an artist of color. The college selected Biggers due to how his impactful imagery about Black identity and culture. The artist was intentional in making his art as platform to elevate Black voices and lived experiences in light of the pandemic and social justice issues. As an alumnus, Biggers also had a strong presence with the campus populations due to his relatable presence, humble insight, and strong work ethic.

Funded by the Challenge America grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and in partnership with the South Dallas Cultural Center.
